Dear sisters, brothers, and activists,

The Baltimore People’s Power Assembly is sending representatives to the historic  mayoral inauguration of Chokwe Lumumba on July 1 in Jackson Miss., one of the poorest cities in the U.S.  Brother Lumumba won 87 percent of the vote.

Lumumba is a long-time Black political activist and civil rights attorney, who has fought tirelessly for people’s rights, especially in the struggle against racism.

The People’s Power Assembly is traveling to Jackson to congratulate this people’s hero, and — even more importantly — to study and learn about the Jackson People’s Assembly, which was the political and organizational apparatus of Brother Lumumba’s election.   We want to learn firsthand how to apply their lessons to Baltimore and cities throughout the country.

Following the incredible May 11-13 Poor People’s Campaign March from Baltimore to Washington, Md., our organizers have constantly and tirelessly been on the road  First we traveled by car for four days to Bentonville, Ark. to support OUR Walmart workers in their fight for justice.

This week we are turning around and driving to Birmingham and Selma, Ala., to lend our voices in support of voters’ rights — to defend Section 5 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which was won by the Civil Rights Movement and is now under attack by the right wing.

We need your help to continue our solidarity efforts.  Funds are needed for airfare, car rentals, gas, food and housing for the delegation’s expenses.  We have the energy and will; but we have to call on our supporters all over the country to help out concretely.

Please give what you can; every dollar counts.   Donate HERE
